Dear friends,
The weather is heating up (even more so than usual!), but at Integrated Pain Consultants we know it can be tough to put a “spring” in your step when you’re dealing with pain.
We’re excited to announce that there are some fantastic additions, accolades, and news brewing. It’s shaping up to be a beautiful season, and we look forward to working with you for all of your pain management needs.
One of the latest treatment options at Integrated Pain Consultants is Suboxone Therapy. It can be a great alternative to methadone for many patients, and can be used as an alternative when detoxing or for long-term pain management. Both methadone and Suboxone contain opioids, but are used to treat opioid addiction—strange, right? However, “tapering” is necessary in the treatment of most opioid addicts in order to avoid dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Neither methadone nor Suboxone have a euphoric effect.
When used for tapering, Suboxone Therapy is stable and longer-lasting than methadone. It also utilizes a different molecule to help patients be less tired and more functional during treatment. Suboxone Therapy doesn’t affect the heart as much as methadone, making it a gentler alternative for opioid treatment. It contains a “partial agonist” compared to methadone’s “full agonist,” ensuring that patients are much less likely to get addicted.
There’s also less chance of an overdose with Suboxone Therapy thanks to its partial agonist. By reducing withdrawal symptoms and cravings, it can be a great tool for those who are ready to kick the opioid addiction for good. Keep in mind that even with Suboxone Therapy, it can take days or weeks to move out of the strongest opioid addiction phase.
Suboxone Therapy is also a much safer option for long-term pain management compared to other opioids. It has a different mechanism of action, so those treating chronic pain with medication can enjoy fewer risks and chances of developing a dependency.
It’s important to bear in mind that any drug addiction should be carefully monitored by a medical professional. That’s why Suboxone Therapy is only available at selected clinics, such as Integrated Pain Consultants. We have two physicians specially trained to administer Suboxone Therapy, and always go the extra mile to make sure every treatment is right for the patient. Suboxone Therapy is usually covered by insurance.
